Intranet news – for Imerys
Imerys is a global mining and minerals company. In 2019, it completed a key stage of its digital transformation when it launched a social intranet that brought everything employees need into one place – including news about the organisation.
Success stories and change communication had previously been shared through a bimonthly PDF magazine, which Artful Dog wrote and designed.
Now, the OneImerys intranet delivers timely news and explainer articles around topics such as sustainability and CSR; health and safety; strategy; research and innovation; and business developments. Stories cover everything from the roll-out of vision and values, new site openings and health and safety initiatives, to how minerals are used sustainably in everything from construction materials and car manufacturing, to paints, toothpaste and wine filtration.
We interview leaders, scientists, plant managers, and sustainability experts from all over the world. We gather information and demystify technical project information, reporting on these business stories in a clear engaging way that everyone can understand.
Artful Dog writes and sub-edits articles, case studies, product profiles and Q&As, and creates infographics and short animations to accompany stories.
Stories appear both in the Group news feed and on the separate pages for each business area.
The evolution of our news channel has been positively reflected in the increasing engagement we’ve seen from employees. For example, in 2021, 565 articles were published versus 493 in 2020 – a 15 per cent increase; but over the same period, the total page views increased by 120 per cent and number of comments by 200 per cent.
As Imerys continues its evolution to a market-led, customer-focused organisation, these articles are instrumental in keeping employees up to speed with changes and milestones.
