Research reports – for Marie Curie
We have worked with Marie Curie for more than ten years on multiple projects, mostly providing design and sub-editing support to its in-house creative team.
We regularly sub-edit, lay out and proofread in-depth reports (and summary reports) that explain the charity’s work, research and position on topics relating to end of life care. These are written by Marie Curie’s own researchers, outlining the findings of their studies and their recommendations for change, to improve care for people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones and carers.
These reports are used to inform the general public about Marie Curie’s work, but are also critical to influence governments and decision-makers in the health and social care system about changes to policies that would make a difference to people’s lives.
Report topics include bereavement in the workplace; dying, death and bereavement during the Covid-19 pandemic; guidance on minimising missing data in end-of-life trials; and the financial impact of dying.
As sub-editors, we review first drafts in detail, proofreading and liaising with the authors regarding sections that could be reworded for clarity. It’s important our audience can quickly understand and digest the key messages and why the recommendations are critical. With such sensitive topics, there’s no room for error or ambiguity,
As designers, we respect the charity’s brand, which has evolved over the decade we have worked together. We present the content in a clear, logical way for readers, ensuring key statistics and statements are pulled out for emphasis, and images reflect the diverse communities Marie Curie supports.
